Troops Overrun Bandit Camps in Bauchi, Rescue Hostages, Recover Arms

Troops of 33 Artillery Brigade under Operation WUTAN DAJI have overrun bandit strongholds in Bauchi State, rescuing hostages and recovering arms in a coordinated clearance operation targeting criminal enclaves.
The operation, conducted in Kumbodoro Forest and Kumbodoro Village, focused on dismantling entrenched bandit camps, including the notorious Azuge hideouts within the forest axis, with support from the Air Component.
Military authorities said troops neutralised several bandits during the offensive and destroyed key operational bases used to coordinate attacks, significantly disrupting the network’s activities in the area.
Eight kidnapped victims were rescued during the operation, while a sweep of the enclaves led to the recovery of arms and equipment, including skeletal rifles, dane guns, magazines, communication devices, and assorted operational items.
Additional items recovered include uniforms, mobile devices, and personal effects believed to be linked to bandit logistics and movement within the forest corridor.
In a related operation, troops deployed at Duguri, working with local vigilantes, recovered 36 rustled cows at Mushen Kura Village. The livestock are believed to have been abandoned by fleeing bandits under sustained military pressure, with efforts underway to return them to their rightful owners.
Sustained ground-air coordination is enabling deeper penetration of forest hideouts, disrupting bandit logistics and rescue operations simultaneously.
The targeting of entrenched forest enclaves reflects a shift toward denying bandits territorial footholds and dismantling their support systems, rather than limiting operations to reactive engagements.
