Nigeria Independence: Wike tasks Abuja residents on unity, collective responsibility

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Barr. Nyesome Wike, has tasked the residents of Abuja to embrace unity, resilience, and collective responsibility.

Wike in his independence message, congratulates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, applauding his administration for taking bold and necessary measures to drive Nigeria’s growth and development.

According to him,
Wike reflected on the enduring legacy of Nigeria’s founding fathers, whose sacrifices laid the foundation for the nation’s unity and prosperity.

He emphasized the importance of continuing their vision by fostering peace, progress, and national cohesion.

“As residents of the Federal Capital Territory, we occupy a special place in the heart of our nation. Abuja, as the seat of government, symbolizes the unity of our people from all corners of Nigeria. It is a melting pot of diverse cultures, ethnicities, and traditions, all coexisting harmoniously,” Wike noted.

The minister highlighted that this year’s Independence celebration comes amid significant national challenges, economic instability, security concerns, and social upheaval.

He however, called on residents of the FCT to lead by example, demonstrating resilience and commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria.

“We must reflect on the spirit of this national day and take personal and collective responsibility for the development of our communities. Let us stand together to support security efforts, promote peace, protect our environment, and be our brother’s keeper,” Wike urged.

Wike reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s dedication to fostering national unity and progress.

He reiterated that Abuja will continue to serve as a beacon of hope, opportunity, and peace for all Nigerians.

The FCT Minister also used the occasion to honor Nigeria’s diversity, calling it a strength that holds the promise of a brighter future.

He encouraged residents to celebrate the nation’s achievements while remaining steadfast in their resolve to overcome the challenges ahead.

“We must also not forget to reflect on the sacrifices of our gallant men and women in uniform who continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of residents,” he added.

Wike further reassured FCT residents that the administration remains committed to infrastructural development, security enhancement, and overall improvement of the quality of life in the nation’s capital.

He stressed the importance of creating an inclusive society where opportunities abound for all, ensuring that no one is left behind.
