Wike Upgrades Kwali Monarch to First-Class Chief

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Brr Nyesom Wike, on Monday announced the upgrade of the traditional ruler of Kwali Area Council to a first-class chief, while also pledging key infrastructure projects for the area.

Wike made the announcement during a thank-you visit to Kwali on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, appreciating residents for their support and warm reception.

Addressing the gathering, the minister said the visit was directed by President Tinubu to personally thank the people of Kwali for fulfilling the commitments they made to the administration.

“On behalf of Mr President, I want to sincerely thank you for coming out to receive us for this thank-you visit,” Wike said.

Recalling an earlier interactive meeting with the community, the minister noted that residents had requested the construction of roads and other development projects, assuring them that the government would honour its promise.

“When I came to Kwali for an interactive session, I asked what you wanted and you told me. I said agreement is agreement.

“Today, you have fulfilled the promise you made to Mr President, and we will also fulfil the promise we made to you,” he stated.

He assured the community that the promised road projects would be delivered.

“The promise I made on the roads, please consider it done,” Wike said.

The minister also disclosed that the traditional ruler of the area would be provided with a befitting palace as part of efforts to strengthen traditional institutions in the territory.

“I also want to say that your traditional ruler will have a befitting palace,” he added.

Wike commended the leadership of the area council, describing the outgoing chairman and the chairman-elect as leaders committed to the welfare and development of the people of Kwali.

He further announced the elevation of the monarch’s stool to first-class status in recognition of his role in mobilising support for the government.

“I hereby, by the powers conferred on me, upgrade his chieftaincy to a first-class chief. Mr President will always be with you and give you the necessary support,” the minister declared.
