Tinubu Embarks On Three-Nation Diplomatic Tour
By Ahmad Sirajo Makama, Abuja
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, May 2, on a visit to Kenya, Rwanda, and France.
This was disclosed on Friday in a statement issued by the President’s Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
President Tinubu’s first stop will be in France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, to attend the Africa-France Summit scheduled to begin next week.
The summit, co-chaired by President Emmanuel Macron and President William Ruto, will focus on energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, restructuring of the global financing architecture, and climate action.
President Tinubu’s participation at the summit from May 11 to May 12 will underscore Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with African nations and the French Republic.
The summit, themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” will provide a high-level platform for African leaders and their French counterparts to deliberate on key issues affecting the continent, including economic transformation, climate resilience, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, technological advancement, and peace-building initiatives.
At the conclusion of the Kenyan engagement, President Tinubu will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the annual Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 to May 15.
With the theme “Scale or Fail,” this year’s forum will bring together Africa’s largest gathering of private sector leaders, investors, and policymakers to discuss strategies for accelerating economic transformation through shared scale, regional integration, and increased cross-border investment.
Held in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the forum is expected to attract over 2,000 top executives and national leaders to explore pathways for building resilient and competitive industries.
At both engagements, President Tinubu will deliver statements highlighting his administration’s ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria as a prime destination for investment and growth.
He is also expected to hold high-level meetings with leading global and African business executives.
The President will be accompanied by some ministers and senior aides and will return to Nigeria after the Rwanda summit.
