APC Primaries: Jibrin Gets Fourth Term Bid
By Ahmad Sirajo Makama, Abuja
Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, has secured the endorsement of stakeholders and delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano North Senatorial District to contest for a fourth term in the Nigerian Senate.
The unanimous affirmation took place during the APC senatorial primaries held at the party’s Kano North Secretariat in Bichi, Kano State.
Party stakeholders and supporters who spoke during the exercise commended Senator Barau for what they described as “exceptional representation” since his election to the Senate.
They cited his scholarship programmes, youth and women empowerment initiatives, constituency projects, and advocacy for policies benefiting Kano State and Northern Nigeria as key reasons behind the endorsement.
One APC stakeholder, Abdullahi Abbas, said Senator Barau had “demonstrated commitment to the welfare of his constituents through impactful projects and human capital development.”
Addressing party members after the endorsement, Senator Barau expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to intensify efforts towards the development of Kano North Senatorial District.
“You will see more expansion of scholarships, youth and women empowerment, and better policies that will bring more development to our people,” he said.
The Deputy Senate President also called on Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, saying the administration deserves another mandate to consolidate its transformation agenda.
Senator Barau was first elected to represent Kano North Senatorial District in 2015 and was subsequently re-elected in 2019 and 2023.
He currently serves as the Deputy President of the 10th Senate.
