Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, have foiled an attempted kidnapping and cattle rustling operation in Bakin Komau, Dangora area of Kiru Local Government Area of Kano State.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement issued in Kano.

According to the statement, armed assailants attacked a shepherd, inflicted serious injuries on him, and abducted his two children while attempting to rustle livestock in the area.

Following a distress call, NSCDC operatives deployed around the nearby Dansoshiya Forest swiftly mobilised to the scene and engaged the suspects in a fierce gun battle.

The prompt response of the NSCDC personnel forced the criminals to abandon the kidnapped victims and flee into the forest with gunshot injuries, effectively thwarting the operation.

The rescued victims, Abubakar Saleh, 36, and Muhammed Inuwa Dille, 30, were safely reunited with their families, while the injured shepherd, 70-year-old Alhaji Saleh, received immediate medical attention.

The NSCDC explained that its personnel were stationed in the area to provide security for the ongoing dam construction project and to protect grazing reserves and farming communities from criminal activities.

The Kano State NSCDC Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and critical national assets across the state.

The command also urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to enhance rapid response to security threats and strengthen community safety.
