Police Rescue Abducted Boy, Arrest Four Suspects In Gombe
By Ahmad Sirajo Makama, Abuja
The Gombe State Police Command has rescued an eight-year-old boy who was abducted in the state unharmed and arrested four suspects in connection with the incident.
The command said the child was reunited with his family after detectives carried out intelligence-led operations that led to the suspects’ arrest.
According to the police, the boy’s father, Muhammadu Nabadara, reported the incident at the Akko Divisional Police Headquarters on June 28, 2026, stating that his son had left home at about 6:30 a.m. on June 27 for an unknown destination and did not return.
Police said detectives immediately launched an investigation and intensified efforts to locate the missing child.
A statement by the command said that during the investigation, the family reportedly received a telephone call on June 29 claiming to reveal the boy’s whereabouts. However, the information was later verified to be false and misleading.
Acting on intelligence, police operatives tracked and arrested the first suspect, Abdullahi Mohammed, at about 10:00 a.m. on June 30 in Jauro Musa Quarters, Kumo, Akko Local Government Area.
The police said the suspect confessed during questioning to conspiring with three other individuals to abduct the child.
The alleged accomplices were identified as Mohammed Magaji, 35; Sale Sale, 23; and Walida Ya’u, 18, all of Kagarawal Quarters in Gombe.
The three suspects were subsequently arrested, while the victim was found in their custody and rescued unharmed.
Police confirmed that the child has since been reunited with his family.
Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion.
The Commissioner of Police in Gombe State, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, commended the professionalism and swift response of the officers involved in the operation, reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies.
