Kaduna Police Rescue 75 Kidnap Victims
By Ahmad Sirajo Makama, Abuja
The Kaduna State Police Command has rescued 75 people abducted by armed men near Birnin Gwari in the state.
The victims, comprising Fulani men, women and children, were travelling in commercial buses when they were intercepted by gunmen wielding AK-47 rifles and other sophisticated weapons at Folwaya Village, near Birnin Gwari, on August 19, 2026.
According to the Police Command, the incident was reported at about 5:30 p.m. by the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Birnin Gwari Branch.
Following the report, a crack team from the Birnin Gwari Area Command was immediately deployed to the area. The abductors reportedly took the victims into a forest and concealed them in a cave located within a mountainous area.
However, the gunmen fled upon sighting the well-armed police operatives, abandoning the captives.
The 75 victims were subsequently rescued unharmed.
The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the NURTW, Birnin Gwari Branch, for providing timely and vital information that aided the rescue operation.
He also praised the Birnin Gwari Area Commander and his operatives for their swift and professional response.
The Commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the police.
He further cautioned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, warning that such actions could result in the loss of innocent lives.
