Gombe: Pantami Emerges PDP Governorship Candidate for 2027 Election

Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2027 Gombe State governorship election after winning the party’s repeat primary election held across the state.

He secured 2,054 votes out of the 2,555 accredited votes, defeating two other contenders, Khamisu Mailantarki, who polled 389 votes, and Hon Usman Aliyu Garry, who received 112 votes.

The direct primary was conducted across the 11 local government areas of Gombe State, following an order by the Federal High Court in Gombe directing the party to repeat its earlier governorship primary.

The results were announced at the PDP state secretariat in Gombe on Tuesday evening by Johnbull Shekarau, Chairman of the party’s primary election committee and returning officer from the PDP National Headquarters in Abuja.

Shekarau commended delegates and party members for what he described as the peaceful conduct of the primary, saying the outcome had produced the party’s governorship flag bearer for the next general election.

According to the results released during the collation, Pantami recorded his highest number of votes in Gombe Local Government Area, where he secured 816 votes out of 1,020 accredited votes.

The result showed that Mailantarki received 154 votes, while Garry polled 50.

The result gives Pantami the PDP ticket ahead of the 2027 Gombe State governorship election.
