Yari Can Secure Tinubu’s Zamfara Victory, Yarima Says

Former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Ahmad Sani Yarima, says Senator Abdulaziz Yari has the political capacity to lead President Bola Tinubu to victory in the 2027 presidential election.

Senator Yarima, who governed Zamfara from 1999 to 2007, described President Tinubu’s appointment of Senator Yari as Director-General of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council as putting a round peg in a round hole.

Yarima stated this in Gusau on the sidelines of activities marking Zamfara State's 30th anniversary.

In a statement by his Special Assistant, Saifullahi Abubakar, the former governor said Tinubu’s choice of Yari was informed by his “pragmatic leadership, team spirit, exposure and appeal to various critical stakeholders across the country.”

“Senator Yari is a pragmatist and goal-getter. I saw this 20 years ago when he led my re-election campaign in 2003.

He is a shrewd and dynamic politician who deploys his energy, brain, time and resources to achieve set goals,” Yarima said.

He noted that Yari’s credentials as a party leader, lawmaker and two-term governor, as well as his eight-year experience as governor and legislative experience in both chambers of the National Assembly, have equipped him with wide contacts across the country.

“There is no gainsaying the fact that he is one of the most successful chairmen of the Nigerian Governors Forum.

His charismatic leadership has endeared him to his colleagues. He understands both the political and governance structures of the country and how best to approach them,” he added.

Yarima described Yari as a detribalised and progressive Nigerian who invests in building bridges across ethnic, religious and regional divides.

“By entrusting the presidential re-election campaign to him, President Tinubu must have analysed and appreciated the qualities and competence of Senator Yari, and he should be rest assured that he will deploy human and material resources to ensure that he steers the campaign into an astounding victory in the January 2027 presidential elections,” he said.

He said stakeholders were already mobilising broad-based support to ensure Yari delivers on the mandate.

“Having known and worked with him for decades, it is easier for all of us to work with Senator Abdulaziz Yari in the 2027 APC campaign council to deliver victory for President Tinubu and our great party,” Yarima stated.

He added that Yari’s meticulousness, energy and team spirit would be crucial in organising the campaign for victory.
