The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of ongoing infrastructural projects across the capital, confirming that several landmark roads are being primed for commissioning during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third year in office.

Speaking to journalists following a routine inspection of project sites on Friday, the Minister emphasized a "hands-on" approach to governance, noting that physical verification is essential to ensuring contractors meet the high standards expected for the nation's capital.

Wike highlighted that the development of Abuja is not merely a local concern but a matter of national image.

"Abuja is the capital city of the country.When people come here, they use this place as a yardstick to see how other cities in the country are. We owe it to the people to provide the best", he stated.

The Minister confirmed that asphalting has commenced at the major bus terminal area and that the road connecting the International Airport to Kuje is among the priority projects scheduled for the President's third-anniversary celebrations.

Addressing the administrative side of the developments, Wike revealed that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has officially approved the management team for the new bus terminals. He assured residents that operations are set to begin within the next three weeks.

To ensure no delays, the Minister noted that the FCT Administration is staying current with all financial obligations to contractors. "We are doing all we can to see that we do not become a hindrance... especially in terms of payment," he added.

Commenting on the internal friction within the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Wike who acknowledged that some members may be disgruntled, struck a firm tone regarding the party's stability.

According to him: "When a child is angry, you try to pacify him, but you do not allow that child to destroy the house you have built."

He also asserted that the upcoming party convention is non-negotiable and will proceed regardless of internal opposition.
