Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi were among prominent Nigerians who attended the Janazah (funeral prayers) of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
The funeral prayer took place on Sunday at the National Mosque Abuja.
Also present were the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, along with other dignitaries.
In a message shared on his X account, Atiku confirmed his attendance and offered prayers for the deceased and her family.
He prayed for strength and comfort for the family of Nasir El-Rufai and asked Allah to grant the late matriarch eternal rest.
Hajiya Umma El-Rufai died on Friday in Cairo, Egypt, where she had been receiving treatment for an age-related illness.
Several notable Nigerians, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had earlier paid tributes to the late matriarch following news of her passing.
