Government Reviews Security Architecture Around Old Oyo National Park
By Ahmad Sirajo Makama, Abuja
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced an immediate review of the security architecture around the Old Oyo National Park following the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area, disclosing that the state government will soon release new security guidelines for the area.
The governor made the announcement on Monday after receiving the rescued pupils and teachers at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan.
He said the new guidelines would form part of efforts to strengthen security around the Old Oyo National Park axis and prevent a recurrence of the May 15 kidnapping.
Makinde explained that all entry and exit points around the park and its surrounding communities would be subjected to enhanced security checks and monitoring under the new measures, aimed at improving surveillance and restricting the movement of criminal elements.
He assured residents that his administration would continue to work with security agencies to safeguard lives and property while implementing additional measures to strengthen security across the state.
