Zulum Meets Army Chief Over Borno Security, Peace Efforts
By Muhammad Bala Imam
Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has met with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, at the Nigerian Army Headquarters in Abuja as part of ongoing engagements on security and efforts to restore lasting peace in the state.
Although details of the meeting were not made public, the engagement comes against the backdrop of sustained military operations against insurgents and efforts to consolidate the gains recorded in the fight against terrorism in the North-East.
Security and the restoration of normalcy remain key priorities of the Zulum administration, particularly as communities affected by the insurgency continue to witness increased reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement efforts.
The Governor has consistently maintained close engagement with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, including providing logistical and other forms of support to strengthen their operations across Borno.
His latest engagement with the Army Chief is therefore expected to further strengthen the existing cooperation between the Borno State Government and the Nigerian Army in the collective efforts to sustain peace and stability across the state.
