Barau Expresses Confidence in Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Victory
By Muhammad Bala Imam
The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Jibrin Barau, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win the January 16, 2027, presidential election, citing prevailing political developments and assessments by political analysts.
Barau expressed the optimism at the weekend while inaugurating campaign committees for Dawakin Tofa, Tofa and Rimin Gado Local Government Areas of Kano State.
He urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to intensify grassroots mobilisation and work collectively to ensure the party secures victory at all levels in the forthcoming general elections.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, the Deputy Senate President said the foundation laid by Tinubu during his first term would yield positive results in his second term, by the grace of Allah.
“Based on the assessments of political analysts and the current state of Nigerian politics, all indications suggest that, by Allah’s grace, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win the presidential election,” he said.
Barau commended party leaders, elected representatives, local government chairmen, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other stakeholders for their support and commitment to the APC.
He assured party members that the unity and cooperation currently enjoyed by the party would be sustained, adding that the political realignment in Kano had positioned the state to attract greater attention and developmental opportunities from the Federal Government.
He described Kano as one of the country’s largest states, with the second-highest number of registered voters after Lagos, saying its political importance deserved greater recognition.
The Deputy Senate President also described Governor Yusuf’s defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the APC as a strategic political decision capable of strengthening Kano’s influence at the national level.
He expressed optimism that the alignment of the governor, councillors, local government chairmen, state lawmakers and members of the National Assembly under the APC would translate into tangible benefits for the people of the state.
Barau further said the forthcoming elections would usher in a new phase of political and developmental activities, with elected representatives expected to make meaningful contributions to the development of their respective constituencies.
Explaining the composition of the campaign committees, he said they comprised party leaders, members of executive committees, former and serving legislators, councillors, local government chairmen, new party members and respected elders.
He charged committee members to take their assignments seriously, mobilise voters and intensify campaigns ahead of the elections.
“What is required of you is to play your part actively in securing victory. Mobilise, campaign and ensure that all APC candidates emerge victoriously from top to bottom. May Allah grant us success and enable us to achieve our goals,” he said.
