The Minority Leader of the House, Luka Iliya Zhekaba, seconded the motion.

The House conducted a unanimous screening and confirmation of the commissioner nominees following favourable testimonies from legislators representing their respective Local Governments.

In a related development, the House of Representatives has successfully passed a motion for the first reading of a bill entitled "A Bill for a Law to Make Provision for the Establishment of the College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Obi, and for Other Purposes Connected Thereto."

This bill is being sponsored by Dr Ibrahim Peter Akwe, the representative of the Obi One constituency and the Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture.

Dr Akwe presented the motion for the bill to advance to the first reading, which was subsequently seconded by Esson Mairiga.

The House unanimously approved the bill for its first reading.

The Speaker of the House, Dr Danladi Jatau, has scheduled the second reading of the bill for August 25, 2026.
