Southwest Muslims Target ₦1bn For Education, Empowerment

The Imodi-Ijebu Muslim Community in Ogun State is set to raise ₦1 billion to support education and empowerment initiatives as it honours prominent Nigerians at a chieftaincy turbaning ceremony on Saturday.
The fundraising initiative is aimed at expanding educational opportunities, supporting youth empowerment and strengthening human capital development within the community.
The ceremony, scheduled to hold at the Tititlayo Agbaje Memorial Comprehensive High School, TAMCO, Imodi-Ijebu, will bring together religious leaders, academics, business executives, politicians and community leaders.
The Ogun State APC governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, is the Chief Launcher of the fundraising, while the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mabtech Electrical Engineering Services Limited, Abuja, Alhaji Engineer Abdul Waheed Yusuf, is the Co-Launcher.
The organisers said the education and empowerment initiative reflects the community’s commitment to investing in young people and creating opportunities that can contribute to sustainable development.
A major highlight of the event will be the turbaning of prominent Nigerians into various religious and community leadership positions.
Among those to be honoured is former Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Science, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Dr Chief Abdulfattah Owolabi Olufowobi, who will receive the title of Baba Adeen of Imodi-Ijebu.
Senior Correspondent with The Nation Newspaper and National Secretary General of the University of Lagos Muslim Alumni, Tajudeen Adegboyega Adebanjo, will be turbaned as Giwa Adeen of Imodi-Ijebu.
A former Director of Procurement at the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, Ishaq Sanni, will receive the title of Aare Adeen of Imodi-Ijebu.
Other recipients include Hafsat Gbadamosi, who will become Otun Iya Sunnah; Chief Ibraheem Opeyemi Mustapha, Otun Arowasadinni; Chief Araazim Ambali, Akeweje Adeen; Abdul Wakeel Akorede Baoku, Alatunse Adeeni; Sherifat Epenuse, Iyalode Adeen; Arowolo Risikat, also known as Alawofin, Otun Asiwaju Adeen Obirin; and Chief Abdul Mojeed Agbaje, Otun Mogaji Adeen.
The new titles are expected to assign the recipients greater responsibilities in supporting the spiritual, educational and social development of Muslims in Imodi-Ijebu, as well as community welfare and leadership.
The event will be attended by prominent religious and public figures, including Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule, National Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh AbdurRahman Ahmad; President of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria, MUSWEN, Rasaki Oladejo; Grand Mufti of the Conference of Islamic Organisations, Sheikh Dhikrullah Shafi’i; and former NAHCON Chairman, Alhaji Zikrullah Olakunle Hassan.
Sheikh AbdurRahman Ahmad will deliver the guest address, while Zikrullah Olakunle Hassan and Sheikh Dhikrullah Shafi’i are expected to deliver keynote addresses.
The event is being hosted by the Chief Imam of Imodi Central, Fadhilat Sheikh Mos’ud Akorede Titilope Raheem.
The organisers said the initiative and the turbaning ceremony are part of broader efforts to strengthen Islamic heritage, education, leadership and social development in Imodi-Ijebu.
