Niger State Governor of North Central Nigeria, Mohammed Umaru Bago, is to perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and dualisation of the Lambata-Bida-Mokwa-Makera-Kontagora Federal Highway, following the Federal Government’s approval of one point five trillion naira for the project.

The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to take place in Bida on Tuesday, 13th October, 2026.

In a statement, the Chief Press Secretary to the Niger State Governor, Bologi Ibrahim, said the project is part of efforts to improve road infrastructure and transportation in the state.

The approval is being described by the Niger State Government as a major development, considering the large number of federal roads in the state.

The highway is expected to improve the movement of people and goods, boost economic activities and strengthen connectivity between communities in Niger State and other parts of the country.

The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote; and the Chairman of Hi-Tech Construction are expected to attend the ceremony.

The Niger State Government says the administration of Governor Bago remains committed to ensuring that federal roads across the state receive the necessary attention.
