ICPC Reaffirms Probe Into Fake Federal Government Agencies
By Muhammad Bala Imam
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has reaffirmed its official position regarding ongoing investigations into fraudulent government entities operating within the public service.
The representative of the commission, Okor Odey, delivered the statement during the Joint Security Press Briefing hosted at the Office of the National Security Adviser on Thursday, 05 November 2026, in Abuja.
Odey stated that the commission stands firmly by its initial findings identifying fake federal agencies, confirming that active investigations are underway and that formal court filings or administrative actions will be announced upon conclusion.
Highlighting core corruption prevention measures, the commission participated in a comprehensive forensic audit of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System across federal institutions to evaluate internal controls, governance structures, and procurement frameworks to permanently block systemic vulnerabilities on public payrolls.
To safeguard local governance, the commission consolidated the Accountability and Corruption Prevention Programme for Local Governments, conducting specialised risk assessments and system studies across ten federal agencies to enhance operational transparency.
On the international front, the commission reinforced Nigeria's leadership as Chair of the Steering Council of the African Anti-Corruption Authorities Forum, finalising preparations to host African member states while engaging in bilateral diplomatic anti-graft dialogues with international partners from Russia, China, Kenya, and Indonesia.
Public engagement metrics show that the commission reached over 100,200 citizens across 105 nationwide sensitisation conferences and established 25 new Anti-Corruption Clubs in schools to foster institutional integrity.
